7 Things to Look Forward to in the First Week Back at University
By Jade Alexander
Updated January 10, 2017 Updated January 10, 2017Have you been dreading going back to university after the holidays? There’s really no need – in fact, here are seven reasons to jump for joy on your journey back to campus…
1. Freebies!
Student clubs or local businesses trying to recruit new members/customers? Grab some freebies, but steer clear of those sign-up sheets asking you to commit…
2. A fresh start
Maybe you didn't do as well as you wanted to last semester. The new term gives you the chance to start again and make it happen, if you focus and learn from your mistakes.
3. Bargain-priced textbooks
If your course wasn’t made yesterday, there is probably a textbook lying around that someone has finished with and is willing to sell for a much lower price than your school bookstore! Yay!
4. B.O.T parties
Beginning of Term is the one time we can give undivided attention to our friends. Not only is everyone excited to be back on campus, but they are ready to party. Why not release your happiness by dancing like no one is watching?
5. FRIENDS
Seeing familiar and rested faces will wake up parts of your heart you’d forgotten existed. We all look forward to reconnecting with the people who make our lives easier and enchanting. If you’re a first-year student, you’ll get to enjoy that sense of belonging for the first time – a stark contrast to the scary start of your very first semester!
6. Learning!
Believe or not, many of us look forward to learning vigorously again. I don't know about you, but I start feeling pretty dumb after all that binge-eating and -watching…
7. Funding
Ahh, if it weren't for external funding we probably wouldn’t be here. Thank God or your higher power that the kind government, institution, parent or private donor believes in your potential and supports your financial needs.
