By Laura Tucker
Updated March 6, 2016 Updated March 6, 2016With the release of the 10th anniversary edition of the QS World University Rankings last week, we have seen an overwhelming reaction from students, academics, politicians and regional and national news platforms the world over. In the initial few days following the release the rankings were featured in leading news media across the globe, with the #QSWUR conversation going strong on social media. On Facebook, we were even briefly trending above Ryan Gosling's baby!

In the UK we had responses from a number of prestigious higher education institutions all wanting to show off their new positions within the rankings...
The question many students wanted answered, however, was how to refer to the top two UK universities now that they couldn't be called 'Oxbridge'...?
We also had an unprecedented response from UK media organizations...
Even UK politicians were tweeting about us!
Meanwhile, over in the US, MIT and the University of Michigan tried hard not to brag...
But Stanford University students weren't quite as modest...
The excitement continued down under too, with a number of Australian universities and media platforms speaking out...
And nor did universities in neighboring New Zealand want to miss the action...
In Asia, Malaysian students and schools in particular were among the most creative in their responses, some even creating infographics for the occasion!
