FREE TUITION UNIVERSITIES IN GERMANY: COST OF LIVING, VISA APPLICATION AND ADMISSION DEADLINE

GERMAN EDUCATION IS AS GOOD AS THEIR FOOTBALL– CONGRATULATIONS GERMANY ON A WELL DESERVED WORLD CUP GLORY!
Study Abroad 365 has put together a list of 25 universities in Germany that are tuition free for international students seeking to study in Germany. However, be informed that while studying in Germany, you’ll be required to finance your feeding and accommodation expenses. International students should budget roughly 500 Euros for their books, healthcare, food and registration. So in one year, an international student should expect to spend 7000 Euros on feeding, accommodation and books expenses.
HOW TO OBTAIN A VISA
To obtain a German visa, you’ll have to show concrete finance proof of your ability to finance your accommodation and feeding expenses during your time of study. This can be done in either of two ways:
(1) Submit a letter of finances to the German consulate or embassy. You can obtain this sponsor letter from your parents or a German relative who is willing to sponsor your studies in Germany.
(2) Open a German blocked account and deposit roughly 7000 euro. This can only happen once you’ve received your letter of admission. This blocked account is opened in the German embassy.
For more information, visit a German consulate in your home country or check out their websites for further details.

And also provide free education.

Hi Hemant, I'm afraid that if you want to study at a reputed university, you'll almost certainly have to submit proof of proficiency in either English or German. The IELTS test is one of the most popular ways to prove proficiency in English, but the TOEFL test is also widely accepted. Fees range from US$140-250 and differ depending on where in the world you take the test - for instance, test fees for India tend to be on the lower end of the scale. I understand you're looking for the cheapest way to study, but language tests are used to ensure all students will be able to understand and contribute to their university program so they're quite important! Tuition fees at undergraduate level however are completely free! For more info on studying in Germany, see our Study in Germany FAQ. Laura :)

I'm an 11th science ISC board student in India with a score of 90% in 10th board exams, and an expected score of around or above 85% in the 12 boards examinations. I also have many certificates of national Olympiads with consistent ranking below 100 at all India level where thousands of students compete. I have been consistently scoring 95+ marks computer subject sine years.
I wish to do my undergraduate studies in Germany in computer science field in one of the best universities like TUM, Aachen ,etc. ..
Can I know what are my chances of admission in good German universities?
Also, I would like to know if I can get a small job or internship there as an undergraduate to partially or wholly cover my living expenses.

Hi Akash, if you've not yet looked at our subject ranking of the world's top universities for computer science this will help you find the names of top german universities in your field (you can filter the results by country). Your academic history looks promising for admission, but you should also bear in mind that the majority of programs at undergraduate level are taught in German. For more information on admissions, language tests, part-time work while studying and more, see our Study in Germany FAQ (particularly question 4 and 12) and our article on Studying in Germany in English. Good luck! Laura

I wanted to know if I'll be given admission before attending the studienkolleg(I heard it's mandatory for Indians because of our 12 year school) because I don't want to end up without admission even after attending the studienkolleg preparatory course. And also, I wanted to know if its difficult or easy for me pass the feststellungsprufung without prior preparation in Germany considering I'm an Indian student where school courses are very tough compared to other countries. This is because wasting a whole year isn't what I would prefer before attending a German university.

Ah I see, so, even if you attend a studienkolleg and get your feststellungsprufung qualification, there is no guarantee that you'll be accepted into a university afterwards. Despite this, depending on the studienkolleg, admissions advisors are often available to ensure you make the best application you possibly can. As the prep course is a full-time course (32 hours a week - up to 2 semesters) dedicated to getting you up to bachelor-level standard, passing the course should be fairly straightforward. Specific information on course difficulty and the types of educational support you can recieve will be available on your chosen studienkolleg's website.

Some knowledge of German is needed to attend a studienkolleg (B1) and further development of your German skills during the course will significantly improve your chances of finding a university after gaining the feststellungsprufung.

If you are serious about studying in Germany and learning the language, finding a university to accept you shouldn't be difficult. If you'd rather study in English, there are fewer programs available but it still shouldn't be impossible to find a program if your academic history is strong enough.

To see the official information, visit this page.

Hey Laura
Please, can you help with the search or send me a link for colleges or universities in Germany or other European countries offering MA in film-making or film production or cinematography or any other related course to the ones listed here with English as language of instruction.
I have done a search via daad, study in germany, QS course finder but have not been able to get any result. Thanks

Hi Itunu, I'm afraid this is an area we don't yet have much information on. In our article of Top Film Schools Around the World there is just one German school in the list - Munich Film School. To find more film schools, take a look here. I can't vouch for the reputation of these schools, but if you conduct your own online research you should be able to find a reputed school offering a master's program in your area. It may be harder to find English instruction but definitely not impossible! Good luck, Laura

Hi Syed, we have a ranking of the top universities in Canada for electrical and electronic engineering but I'm afraid you'll have to research these universities (on their website) to find out whether you meet the entry requirements. The higher up the rankings you go however, the higher the entry requirements are likely to be! Good luck! Laura

Hi Anudeep. Many universities will help you to find accommodation once you've been offered a place on a course. You may want to look at our ranking of the world's top universities for civil engineering, here, and watch out for the new edition of the ranking being released next week.

Hi! I am Sabal Kshetri from Nepal. As we all know this is the under developed country and is in the developing phase but beautiful one.... I have passed my +2 in 2008 A.D. in physical science and then joined the bachelor of civil engineering in the same year and in the college but it was the first batch i.e. we were the first batch in this.... And also in the same year i got married too. But still now in this course I along with 30 more students, my classmates have some papers to be still passed out. We then continuously giving retake exams but the results are not in our favour. It may be due to the lack of skilled and experience teacher and also we never had laboratory or practical classes and has to face practical based tough questions in the exams. So now without wasting my time i would like to start my bachelor degree course from the very beginning. But i want to study abroad, so what should i do now and which country should i apply to study?? And also i got 6.5 overall score in IELTS too.... Please help anyone....

Hi Marcus, although entry requirements vary, most public German universities accept international qualifications which would allow you to study at university in your home country. To find specific information, you should first find a university which offers a suitable program. To do this, take a look at our ranking of top universities for agriculture and forestry as well as our ranking of top universities for mechanical engineering. If you wish to study in English not German, learn more with our Study in Germany in English article. For general information about fees, funding and applications, see our Study in Germany FAQ. Good luck! Laura

Hi daud, congratulations! You can find the top universities in Germany for accounting & finance here, but many of the schools listed may not offer their programs in English. To found out which ones do, visit the official website of each school to check programs and costs. For more information on finding English-language programs in Germany, visit this article. Laura :)

Hello Laura, i am Matti an African but currently living in Europe under projection by the UN ( a refugee). i wish to find out if it's possible for me to gain admission despite my current situation for Masters program in International Marketing from a free tuition institution in Germany. comments and recommendation will be highly appreciated.

Hi Matty, I'm afraid this is a tricky one - so instead of giving you the wrong information, I'd advise that you contact the UN or a government office/embassy that is aware of your situation to ask them about your options of becoming a student. I hope you can! Laura

Hi Joy, you should first check on Michigan-flint's website to see if they offer any funding, scholarships or financial aid, but if they do not, you can also look for external funding from government bodies, external organizations, businesses or charities. We have a Scholarships FAQ which can help you to get started on your search (use the links in the article for more information), or you can see our range of international scholarships articles here. You might particularly be interested in the Business & Entrepreneurship Scholarships article. Good luck! Laura

HI Laura, I'm a 35 yr old US citizen and have never gone to college. I'm single with no children, 0 debt and basically nothing anchoring me anywhere. I do not have much savings or disposable income either. I'd like to get a bachelors degree overseas and am open to several fields of study and almost any country but I only speak English. Hi Brian, I say go for it! We have loads of resources on this site for prospective study abroad students so you've definitely come to the right place. First I recommend that you take a look at our How to Study Abroad FAQ which has a number of links to articles around the site and information on how to get started. If you're looking to study cheaply, see our Where Can You Study Abroad for Free? article. Not all these countries offer programs in English, but a growing number of European countries (such as Germany) offer at least some degrees taught in English. If your looking for world-leading institutions however, make sure to view the QS World University Rankings 2014/15 and/or our latest subject rankings.

To learn more about the various study destinations around the world, see our where to study homepage.

Good luck with your plans!

Dear Laura;
I recently graduated from one of Indian universities, faculty of Arts and humanity (English Literature Department), where I completed my Ph.D thesis work as a foreign scholar. I am writing to inquire about the possibility of obtaining a postdoctoral or visiting scholar position in Germany.
I greatly appreciate it if you point me in a direction as to how I can find out more about the possibility of joining a German university as a Doctoral, postdoctoral or visiting scholar.
Thank you for your time and consideration and I am looking forward to receiving your reply.

Sincerely Yours,
Sani
