FREE TUITION UNIVERSITIES IN GERMANY: COST OF LIVING, VISA APPLICATION AND ADMISSION DEADLINE

GERMAN EDUCATION IS AS GOOD AS THEIR FOOTBALL– CONGRATULATIONS GERMANY ON A WELL DESERVED WORLD CUP GLORY!
Study Abroad 365 has put together a list of 25 universities in Germany that are tuition free for international students seeking to study in Germany. However, be informed that while studying in Germany, you’ll be required to finance your feeding and accommodation expenses. International students should budget roughly 500 Euros for their books, healthcare, food and registration. So in one year, an international student should expect to spend 7000 Euros on feeding, accommodation and books expenses.
HOW TO OBTAIN A VISA
To obtain a German visa, you’ll have to show concrete finance proof of your ability to finance your accommodation and feeding expenses during your time of study. This can be done in either of two ways:
(1) Submit a letter of finances to the German consulate or embassy. You can obtain this sponsor letter from your parents or a German relative who is willing to sponsor your studies in Germany.
(2) Open a German blocked account and deposit roughly 7000 euro. This can only happen once you’ve received your letter of admission. This blocked account is opened in the German embassy.
For more information, visit a German consulate in your home country or check out their websites for further details.

Hi Promise. For general information about applying to study in Germany, take a look at our country guide. And for details of the costs, visit our article "How Much Does it Cost to Study in Germany?" As you'll see there, students who have not completed a bachelor's degree in Germany will need to pay fees for master's degrees, which vary depending on the course and institution.

Hey Laura, I read that masters in Germany is free only if I have my BA from a German university. Are there no exceptions to this? 'Cause I have a BA in Eng Lang and Lit from Lebanon and would like to apply to a German uni for my MA.

This i Vivek here from Bangalore (India), a 2014 B.com graduate with a GPA of 4.7/6 ie: 70% aggregate in my UG, I also hold one year of work experience in a Multi National Bank into investments division. Currently i am looking to do my masters (MBA in finance) in Germany,i have very less knowledge about the place.. Need some help before i could proceed with my career plans.
My intention behind writing this message get some feed back from you with regards to the growth/opportunities in management field for a student like me coming from a commerce background. and also the culture, lifestyle and a life as a student staying there and most important aspect the possible job opportunities in management field after i complete my studies
It would be of great help, if you can provide me your honest feed back on the above aspects and would also appreciate if you can provide any guidance before i could proceed.

Also i would like to know are there any public universities available for my courses which can offer me with low/no tuition fees.

Looking forward for your reply.

Vivek

Hi Vivek. At master's level, public universities in Germany do charge tuition fees, though these are often still relatively low compared to other countries. You can find out more in our article about the costs of studying in Germany. If you're interested specifically in MBAs, I'd recommend visiting our sister site, TopMBA.com, which is dedicated to all things MBA-related. Finally, check out the latest edition of the QS Top Grad School Guide, which has a section dedicated to Germany - and watch out for the next edition, coming soon!

Miss Laura what is the basis of QS in the poor rankings of Philippine Universities considering that Filipinos are very fluent in English and are excellent presenters of papers abroad? I think QS rankings should make its criteria more structured and unbiased. Most of the competitions abroad are won by Filipinos how come the rankings of our universities are low?

Hi Laura,
I had a Biotech degree and recently just graduated from postgraduate diploma in sonography. I would like to know whether i am eligible to apply for human medicine in Germany as I have so much interest to become a doctor. And is the medicine course in Germany is also F.O.C , or is there any additional fees attached to it? Am I required to learn German in order to study there ?

Hi Farhan, we have recently published an article on how to study a PhD in Germany. I think you have a good chance of either being paid for your PhD work or receiving a scholarship - please see our list of scholarships to study in Germany. You might also like to have a look at our rankings by subject for Sociology, narrowed down by country to see the top universities in Germany. Hope this helps :)
