FREE TUITION UNIVERSITIES IN GERMANY: COST OF LIVING, VISA APPLICATION AND ADMISSION DEADLINE

GERMAN EDUCATION IS AS GOOD AS THEIR FOOTBALL– CONGRATULATIONS GERMANY ON A WELL DESERVED WORLD CUP GLORY!
Study Abroad 365 has put together a list of 25 universities in Germany that are tuition free for international students seeking to study in Germany. However, be informed that while studying in Germany, you’ll be required to finance your feeding and accommodation expenses. International students should budget roughly 500 Euros for their books, healthcare, food and registration. So in one year, an international student should expect to spend 7000 Euros on feeding, accommodation and books expenses.
HOW TO OBTAIN A VISA
To obtain a German visa, you’ll have to show concrete finance proof of your ability to finance your accommodation and feeding expenses during your time of study. This can be done in either of two ways:
(1) Submit a letter of finances to the German consulate or embassy. You can obtain this sponsor letter from your parents or a German relative who is willing to sponsor your studies in Germany.
(2) Open a German blocked account and deposit roughly 7000 euro. This can only happen once you’ve received your letter of admission. This blocked account is opened in the German embassy.
For more information, visit a German consulate in your home country or check out their websites for further details.

Dear Team,

Is it compulsory to open the german account before one can be granted Visa, or must it be 7000 euros?

Hi Michael, you'll need to prove you have the financial resources of around 8000 euros for one year, and one of the ways you can prove this is by opening a blocked German bank account and depositing a security payment. You should inquire at the German embassy in your country as to which form of financial proof is required. You can read more here. Hope this helps!

Hello Sabrina. My name is Denise and i would like to study my undergraduate degree in social work next in 2017.so i would like to ask how do i apply and which universities offer this programe.and can i also study it in English?can i also study for free? Thank you

Hi Denise, I'm afraid bachelor degrees taught in English in Germany are quite uncommon, so your options are:

1. Pay tuition fees to study at a private university - you may be able to find a scholarship, however.

2. Be open about what course you'd like to study, and possibly find a program that interests you in the social sciences taught in English for free via this search tool

3. Consider learning German to study either a free German-taught course or a course which is at first taught in English but switches to German (again, you can use the search tool). If so, there are preparatory courses available (you can find out more here).

For more information, please take a look at our complete guide on how to study abroad in Germany. Hope this helps.

Hi Sabrina Collier, I am from Pakistan currently in the state of under graduation "2nd-year"... I simply want to study in Germany for "Mechanical Engineering", the main thing is I do not have enough money, So is it possible that I submit the tuition fees after my arrival to Germany?
I will make it by the part-time job in the respective country...
Waiting for your response....!

Hello, I have an undergraduate degree in International Security studies and was looking at a Germanic language program. Are there any programs that would teach the German language? I also took 3 years of German in high school so I may be able to remember some.

Hi Aqib, I'm afraid English undergraduate programs for free in Germany are quite hard to find, so you have a few options - if you're quite open about what you study, then you might be able to find an English-taught bachelor's degree for free in the field of Engineering via this search tool. Or you could consider learning German to study a German-taught course for free. Please have a look at our article on how to study in English in Germany for more advice. Our complete guide on how to study abroad in Germany also contains lots of helpful information. Hope this helps!

Please am Shadrack, currently a masters student in Italy, I want to apply for a masters program in Germany whose tuition fees is low or free, and also want to know whether once I have Italian student Visa, I also need to apply for Germany students visa again.

Hi Shadrack, I'm afraid masters degrees in Germany are not usually free unless you have previously studied your undergraduate degree in the country - but you may be able to find a scholarship. Whether or not you need a visa depends on where you're from (find out more here) but you probably will need a separate visa for Germany. Hope this is helpful.

Hi Jeysree, you don't need to know German if you instead study in English - however, bachelor's programs in English in Germany are quite hard to find. To study at undergraduate level, a high-school diploma, school-leaving certificate or university entrance exam result is usually sufficient for entry. To find out more, please take a look at our complete guide on how to study abroad in Germany. Hope this helps!
