Study an international engineering degree

Tel Aviv University’s International School of Engineering offers an undergraduate degree program in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. This international engineering degree curriculum includes courses in mathematics and basic sciences, computing, electronics engineering, signal processing and computer systems. It’s also possible to choose electives taught in collaboration with other faculties within the university, such as the Faculties of Social Sciences and of Business Management.  

A core part of the program is its integrated internship program, which allows students to gain first-hand experience working with international high-tech companies and start-ups. Those enrolled in the program are also exposed to a truly global classroom, studying alongside top engineering students from around the world – the beginnings of a lasting professional network which will serve them well during their international engineering careers to come.

Launch a successful engineering career

Moshe Kam graduated from Tel Aviv University in 1976 with a BSc in Engineering. Since then, he has gone on to complete an MSc and PhD at Drexel University, where he is now head of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. His research interests include detection and estimation, decision fusion and distributed detection, robot navigation and data mining.

In 1992 Professor Kam received a C. Holmes MacDonald Teaching Award, and shortly afterwards he was recognized with a National Science Foundation Presidential Young Investigator Award. He’s been named a Fellow of the IEEE (the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers),granted an IEEE Third Millennium Medal, and has served the IEEE as President and CEO.

Professor Kam says his education at Tel Aviv University provided the “stepping stone” that enabled him to launch this hugely successful engineering career. “While a student at Tel Aviv University, I gained a lot of knowledge, but more importantly, I was given the analytic tools that would later allow me to conduct self-study and independent research, sift through large volumes of literature in search of what is relevant and new, be able to enter new fields and learn new methods and technologies,” he says.

Learn from prestigious engineering researchers

Among Tel Aviv University’s acclaimed engineering faculty members is Dr. Ehud Weinstein, a professor at the School of Electrical Engineering, where he served as chairman and established the Yizhak and Chaya Weinstein Research Institute for Signal Processing.

Another Fellow of the IEEE, Dr Weinstein has extensive research experience in the field of signal processing and digital communications. His honors include being named a Senior Fellow of TI (Texas Instruments), for his numerous scientific contributions to statistical signal processing and also for his leadership in establishing Libit Signal Processing, a company which designs and manufactures silicon solutions for cable broadband access, now being used by Texas Instruments and their clients worldwide.

He’s also the founder of well-known company Anobit, whose technology optimized Flash memory devices for storage solutions, a chip now being used by Apple in all of its devices.

New center for sci-tech innovation

Continuing the theme of innovation, Tel Aviv University (TAU) has joined forces with China’s Tsinghua University to launch a new dedicated research center for sci-tech innovation, bringing together the best minds from both regions to drive forward research and development across multiple fields of science and technology.

The new XIN Center was described by Tsinghua University president Professor Chen Jining as highlighting “the importance of cultivating innovative future scientists and leaders, as well as our readiness to work with Tel Aviv University to push forward research and answer global challenges.”

TAU president Joseph Klafter added, “The establishment of the XIN Center is evidence of the considerable esteem in which the Chinese hold Israeli innovation and the high academic standards of Tel Aviv University.”

This collaboration follows closely on from the inauguration of the university’s new international engineering degree, continuing Tel Aviv’s strong tradition of innovation and leadership in the field.-

·         Official secondary school diploma and transcripts

·         Standardized university entrance examination (i.e. SAT or national equivalent)

·         English language proficiency exam, if applicable

·         Two letters of recommendation
