Italian scholarships on offer for Indian students
For many students studying abroad, living away from close friends and family can be hard and Felix is no exception. “I do miss my family but one of the reasons I left India to study in Italy is to give back to my family. In order to achieve this I have to be independent so that I can do what my parents have done for me up until now. But with the help of communication technologies I am in constant touch with them. The Italian culture is not so different to the Indian culture.”
Italy is a top study destination for international students, says Battocchi. “The percentage of international students graduating in engineering, management and design in Italy is still low compared to the need for foreign professionals in the private sector,” he says.
So for students like Felix, opportunities abound in Italy through scholarship programs such as the Invest your Talent in Italy scheme, and as Felix has also found out, there’s more to learn than engineering, management or design.
“Italy has forced me to learn how to cook for my survival and now, at the end of my second year, I have mastered both Indian and Italian cuisine.”
