Postgrad scholarships on offer
Studying abroad for a masters or PhD program has become even more of a reality with the number of scholarships available for postgrad study at the QS Top Universities Fair. Find out how to apply for one.
Over 700 scholarships for undergraduate and postgraduate students are available at the QS Top Universities Fair from some of the world’s top universities. Students wishing to study for a masters or PhD program abroad could find up to 100% of their course and tuition fees covered, making the study abroad option more affordable for students considering higher education.
Italy’s Università Bocconi is offering 200 scholarships for postgraduate students and another 250 scholarships for undergraduate students based on merit and financial need.
Australian Universities are offering more than 50 scholarships for those wishing to study for their postgraduate degree downunder, including the University of Queensland, which is offering a number of scholarships and awards to international candidates commencing a research higher degree program in any field. Masters by coursework scholarships are also available at the university in law, geography, planning and architecture, social and behavioural science, international studies and integrated water management.
Meanwhile, students wishing to study slightly closer to home could apply for one of the 40 scholarships for Bologna masters students being offered by Spain’s Universitate Pompeu Fabra. Leiden University in the Netherlands has a scholarship program offering five awards: platinum covers the tuition fee minus the home fee and an allowance of €10,000 for living costs, gold covers the tuition fee minus the home fee, silver covers 75% of the tuition fee, bronze, 50% of the tuition fee and ivory 25%.
UK universities are also offering scholarships. The University of Liverpool has international scholarships on offer for students enrolling in taught postgraduate courses as well as postgraduate loyalty awards valued at £1,500 per year. Meanwhile, Aston University Birmingham awarded more than £600,000 in scholarships in 2008/09 and Cardiff University also has funding opportunities for PhD and masters programs.
Tony Martin, QS Director for Universities said students who can add studying abroad to their qualifications bring extra skills to the workforce.
“Employers are looking for graduates who have an edge, and being able to study abroad for a postgrad qualification can often be the point of difference between being hired or not. QS has encouraged all universities attending the QS Top Universities Fair to offer scholarships for graduate students to make that study abroad experience an affordable reality.”
Scholarships are available in the fields of computer science, engineering, theology, arts, business and law and human sciences.
