QS World Grad School Tour takes Latin America by storm
The seven Latin American events brought international grad schools face-to-face with 12,000 students, all beginning their graduate school search. With advice on Masters degrees, PhD programs and graduate school scholarships, the 2007 QS World Grad School Tour has begun.
The first seven events in seven Latin American cities of the 2007 QS World Grad School Tour have been completed. The Latin America leg of the world’s largest graduate-only student recruitment fairs saw an unprecedented reaction amongst attendees - a number of the events seeing audiences of over one thousand during the four-hour format! International universities and graduate schools too were overwhelmed by the quality and quantity of candidates, many of whom were making their first foray into recruiting Latin American graduate students.
Peter MacDonald, Director of the QS World Grad School Tour attended the Latin America events: “The reaction of students and universities was amazing. No one quite believed that there was such interest in Masters and PhD programs amongst students and young professionals in cities as diverse as Lima, Caracas and Sao Paulo. Universities were delighted with the number, quality and enthusiasm of those that attended the events and many met with applicants likely to start at their institutions in 2008.”
The number of candidates pre-registering for the seven Latin American cities in 2007 was three times that of 2006, with Bogotá, Caracas and Mexico City more than doubling the number of pre-registrations from the same time last year! In total a staggering 11,594 students registered for one of the Latin American cities that hosted the QS World Grad School Tour.
Highlights of the Latin America leg of the Tour included the attendance of top engineering, science and medical school Imperial College London in Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Bogotá and Mexico City; the emerging popularity of two of Italy’s best universities, Politecnico di Milano and Bocconi University at all of the Latin American venues; and the perennial excitement of prospective graduate students meeting such top US graduate and law school names as Columbia, California – Hastings, Georgetown, Minnesota, Pepperdine and Tulane.
