German masters lead globalization of universities
"In 1999, only every tenth company would have favoured a masters to a German 'Diplom'. Today, things look different.'
Achim Hopbach from the Association of Universities and other Higher Education Institutes in Germany emphasizes this when he says “big companies know very well what the degrees stand for. A demand for information mainly exists among the small and medium sized companies.” The Association of Universities and other Higher Education Institutes in Germany, in cooperation with the Confederation of German Employers’ Associations, therefore organises information events to support companies in this matter.
The future of the international masters degree in Germany is exciting. The supply of masters degrees will continue to increase - and with them the number of students studying for a masters. Approximately 20% of a Bachelors class, according to experts, will start a masters degree right afterwards, an additional 20% after several years of work experience. In fact, Germany is in the forefront of implementing the Bologna target to set up a European system of higher education.
