By: Kyung-won CHUNG Ph.D. KAIST

‘it is the right time for Korea to contribute to the higher education in the world.’

Other Korean universities are also making every effort to globalize their campuses and expand their opportunities to recruit international students for postgraduate studies. As previously mentioned, it has become common to meet international students at university campuses in Korea. Also, international joint research programs are very active among Korean and other international universities. if we review Korea's economic achievements, such as becoming the tenth ranked economy in the world in just 40 years, overcoming an earlier national per capita income of US$100 in the 1960s, it is the right time for Korea to contribute to the higher education in the world. Leading universities in Korea have come to a turning point, changing their roles from providers of brilliant Korean students to distinguished graduate schools in the world to recipients of outstanding international students. In Korea’s tradition of hospitality, foreigners are welcomed as guests, and this encourages international students to overcome cultural differences and concentrate on their studies. It is anticipated that more international students will come and study in Korea to prepare for their invaluable futures.
