Close relationships between faculty and students characterize AUP graduate programs. AUPÂ’s faculty privilege tutorial methodologies in their work with graduate students, allowing students to benefit from rigorous intellectual exchange and a global professional contact network.
Based in Paris since 1962, AUP is the oldest American institution of higher learning in Europe and is fully accredited in the United States as an independent college of liberal arts and sciences. AUP offers 14 undergraduate majors and five Master's degrees.
The dual-language Master of Arts in International Affairs, Conflict Resolution, and Civil Society Development (MIA) draws students to the University as a result of its outstanding faculty, unique bilingual offerings, and partnership with the Sorbonne (Paris I), one of FranceÂ’s leading educational institutions.
The MA in Global Communications produces graduates who are both analysts and actors in global change. The degree is based on theoretical work and cross-cultural pedagogy. Students take core courses in branding and identity politics, cultural diversity, and the political economy of global media as a basis for specialized academic courses and workshop-based classes.
The MPA in Strategic Public Policy provides students with a strong theoretical background, ensuring solid exposure to policy framing, analysis, implementation, and evaluation. Through the program, students additionally gain methodological, and hands-on professional skills—all of which are crucial components for effectively dealing with the realities of policy making in democratic and internationalized contexts.
The MA in Middle East and Islamic Studies (MIL) explores the Muslim world and the religion of Islam from various viewpoints, focusing in particular on the Middle East. With its rigorous curriculum and esteemed professors, the degree program encourages students of different backgrounds and faiths to engage in dialogue with one another.
The MA in Cultural Translation (MCT) studies the meaning of culture in the context of mobility, migration, and translation. Works of art and culture are considered within supra-national, international, and global contexts, such as empires, population migrations, trade systems, and the circulation of objects and representations.
