Centres of excellence
TKK hosts the following centres of research excellence nominated by the Academy of Finland:
? the Adaptive Informatics Research,
? the Bio- and Nanopolymers Research Group,
? Computational Complex Systems Research,
? Computational Nanoscience,
? Low Temperature Quantum Phenomena and Devices,
? the Smart and Novel Radios Research Unit (SMARAD),
? Systems Neuroscience and Neuroimaging Research and
? Smart Machines.
Joint centres of excellence with other universities are
? the From Data to Knowledge Research Unit,
? the Helsinki Brain Research Centre (HBRC) and
? Inverse Problems Research.
The Ministry of Education has nominated two centres of excellence in teaching:
? Department of Material Science and
? Laboratory of Urban and Regional Studies.
The Finnish Higher Education Evaluation Council has nominated TKK as
? University of Excellence in Adult Education.
No tuition fees in TKK's own master's programmes. The Erasmus Mundus programmes may have tuition fees.

The university does not have a scholarship system. The Erasmus Mundus programmes may offer scholarships.
