The Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM), commonly known as Tecnológico de Monterrey, was founded in 1943 by a group of entrepreneurs headed by Don Eugenio Garza Sada.
Seeking to educate professionals and equip them with the skills needed to succeed in the business world, Tecnológico de Monterrey has developed into an institution recognized - both nationally and internationally - for its academic excellence.
With 95,000 students, 3,500 of them from across the globe, one of Tecnológico de Monterrey's priorities is internationalization. To strengthen its worldwide presence, the institute:
·Maintains fifteen liaison offices throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Latin America.
·Promotes an international exchange program offering academic research and continuing education for both students and professors.
·Invites foreign professors to serve as visiting faculty members.
·Encourages proficiency in English for students, faculty and administrators.
·Is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools of the United States of America (SACS) to confer Undergraduate and Graduate degrees in the Master's and Doctoral level.
Tecnológico de Monterrey offers study in 34 undergraduate degree programs, 49 master degree programs, and 12 doctoral degree programs. Areas of study include, among others, the humanities, engineering, computer science, administration, food technology, and medicine.
The institute has its own scholarship and student-loan programs that benefit more than 32% of students at the preparatory, undergraduate, and graduate school levels. It also provides academic preparation that is internationally competitive in students' area of specialty. Promotes student participation in sporting activities as well as cultural, academic, and community activities.
