Established in 2002, GIST-TUM Asia is a subsidiary of Technische Universität München (TUM) in Singapore and the result of the first German academic venture overseas.

Ranked as one of three elite Universities by the German government in 2006 and obtaining an Excellence Award, TUM is a premier address in Europe as one of the most innovative institutions of higher learning in Germany. It is renowned for the quality and diverse opportunities it offers its students. It is dedicated to generating and communicating highly specialized research and to providing excellent academic education. TUM boasts 13 faculties with more than 23,300, 420 professors, and roughly 6,500 academic and non-academic staff. It has produced a total of 16 Nobel Prize Laureates, 1 Pritzker Prize Laureate and 10 Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Laureates to date.

GIST-TUM Asia works with experts from world-renowned universities
We run selective Master of Science programmes jointly with TUM, National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU). There are 5 active Master of Science Programmes. They are Master of Science in Microelectronics, Master of Science in Integrated Circuit Design and Masters of Science in Industrial Chemistry, Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering and Master of Science in Transportation and Logistics. Whilst the former 4 programmes are run jointly with either NUS or NTU, the latter is a pure TUM master programme

Another vital mission of GIST-TUM Asia is to coordinate research programmes where scientists and researchers from both Germany and Singapore can work together for the advancement of science and technology.

Since its inception, GIST-TUM Asia has produced over 200 graduates. Our graduates come from countries including China, India, Nigeria, France, and Germany, Poland as well as some Asean countries. The majority of our graduates now hold senior positions in companies in their home country. In Singapore, GIST-TUM Asia graduates are working with corporate leaders such as BASF, Broadcom, Degussa Construction Chemicals, Glaxo Wellcome, Infineon, Novartis, Siemens, Sued-Chemie, Sumitomo Bakelites Singapore, Schering, Texas Instruments, Wacker and Shell, amongst others. There are also a significant number of them who are currently pursuing their doctoral degrees with TUM or with other universities in Germany and USA.

Entry Requirements

Good Bachelor's Degree is a prerequisite or equivalent degree in other relevant disciplines. Preferably for those who have at least 6 months of relevant working experience.
