Teaching quality assessments rate our teaching very highly across a wide range of subjects, and official research assessments confirm our reputation as a centre for world-class research in many disciplines.

The University's history stretches back to 1828, when the Sheffield School of Medicine was founded, and our University Charter was granted in 1905.

We offer over 180 graduate taught courses across a wide spectrum of subject areas. The campus is situated close to the city centre and the main student residential areas, with excellent transport links. Sheffield is small enough to be friendly, but large enough to have all the amenities of a major city. It is also, according to government statistics, the safest city in England.
