Founded in 1918, Chung-Ang University has now grown into one of the most prestigious universities in Korea. During its 93-year history, CAU has graduated 152,187 BA holders, 30,693 MA holders and 4,634 Ph.D holders.
CAU was reorganized from 18 colleges with 77 departments to 10 colleges with 47 departments in 2011 to elevate educational efficiency and research performance. The university also introduced five vice president positions to head each of the five faculties (Humanities & Social Sciences, Natural Sciences & Engineering, Business & Economics, Medicine & Pharmacy, and Arts & Sports Sciences). The vice presidents are granted the autonomy to run their academic faculty according to its specific needs.
The prestigious 93-year-old institution has acquired the top-class certification in the comprehensive university evaluation and has graduated many important opinion leaders in Korea over the years. The graduate schools of Law, Business Administration and Medicine have been traditionally strong, along with the School of Pharmacy, School of Business Administration, School of Mass Communication and Department of Advertising and Public Relations.
In addition, its pharmacy and culture and arts-related programs have been widely recognized as the best and have enabled the university to gain the status of the Center of recent 'Korean culture wave' within and outside Asia.
As a major private institution, Chung-Ang is fully committed to helping Korean and international students envision their life goals and achieve their maximum potential in an increasingly competitive global society.
