Founded in 1834 as the Medical College of Louisiana with the goal of combating tropical diseases, the university has long been a hub of innovation and interdisciplinary learning and discovery. Tulane is currently embarking on a historic expansion downtown that will place more of its researchers and inventors in the heart of New Orleans’ BioDistrict where, through its newly established Innovation Institute, it will drive research-based entrepreneurship throughout the city and region.
