ITESO is the Jesuit university of Guadalajara in Mexico. It was founded over 50 years ago by a group of Jesuits, families and local business leaders who sought a different kind of university that would combine rigorous professional training with an education that would inspire men and women with a profound sense of social responsibility and justice. ITESO programs are imbued with the educational philosophy of Jesuit institutions, recognized worldwide for training well-rounded leaders in the fields of the arts and sciences.
With approximately 9000 students and 23000 graduates, ITESO offers a robust combination of professional advancement and knowledge production in the sciences. It houses state of the art programs in engineering, humanities and the social sciences. ITESO boasts high academic standards at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. For the second consecutive year, the Public Education Secretary (SEP) has granted the university, the Institutes of Higher Education Award for Quality Programs. This indicates that over 90% of its students are enrolled in accredited degree course offerings.
ITESO is the first university from Jalisco to receive the Academic Excellence register by the SEP, and to offer graduate programs of excellence recognized by the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT) and the Mexican Society for the Public Communication of Science and Technology (SOMEDICYT). Of all the private universities in the country, ITESO has the greatest number of professors in the National System of Researchers (SNI), the greatest number of books published, as well as an outstanding library.

El ITESO es la Universidad Jesuita de Guadalajara, México y nació del sueño de un grupo de familias, empresarios locales y jesuitas quienes hace más de 50 años, que buscaban construir las bases materiales y espirituales de una universidad diferente. Su propuesta fue combinar la formación profesional y la preparación de hombres y mujeres con pleno sentido de responsabilidad y justicia social.
Con aproximadamente 10 mil estudiantes y 23 mil egresados, el ITESO ofrece una sólida combinación de actualización profesional y producción científica, contando con los programas de ingeniería más importantes, así como en las humanidades y ciencias sociales. El ITESO alcanza rigorosos estándares académicos, tanto a nivel licenciatura como posgrado. Por segundo año consecutivo, la universidad recibió el reconocimiento Instituciones de Educación Superior por la Calidad de sus Programas, otorgado por la SEP, por tener 90.3% de sus estudiantes cursando programas educativos acreditados.
El ITESO es la primera universidad jalisciense que ha recibido el Registro como Institución de Excelencia Académica otorgado por la Secretaría de Educación Pública de México (SEP), así como los programas de posgrado de excelencia avalados por El Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACYT) y la Sociedad Mexicana para la Divulgación de la Ciencia y la Técnica (SOMEDICYT). Tiene además el mayor número de académicos integrados al Sistema Nacional de Investigadores, (SNI), la mayor producción editorial en libros y revistas y la biblioteca más completa en los diversos campos del conocimiento.
