Finding Scholarships to Study in Switzerland

TopUniversities.com's guide to Swiss scholarships will help you work out how to finance your undergraduate study in Switzerland if the lure of amazing chocolate, cheese and the great outdoors (oh, and let's not forget: some of the world's very best universities!) has proved too much for you to resist.

Most Swiss universities are publicly funded, making international study relatively affordable. The Swiss government, and some universities, also offer scholarships to international students. However, you must ensure you have sufficient funds to support yourself during your studies.

Once you're in Switzerland, as an international student, you can also work up to 15 hours per week - which should at least keep your chocolate supply in stock!

Swiss government scholarships

For foreign students from a large number of countries, the Swiss government offers scholarships through the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS). Information is available from the website of the State Secretariat for Education and Research.

Swiss university scholarships

Various Swiss universities offer their own scholarships to international students. For information, contact the university of your interest directly. The Federal Department of Foreign Affairs provides links to all the Swiss universities and their study opportunities.

ERASMUS student mobility program

Within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), Switzerland is one of 32 countries participating in the Erasmus student mobility program, allowing their students to study up to one full academic year at a partner university. EHEA students interested in an Erasmus exchange experience at a Swiss university may contact the study-abroad office of their local university.

US Fulbright-Swiss Scholarship Program

The US Fulbright-Swiss Scholarship Program offers scholarships to selected US students to study in Switzerland. Detailed information about the program can be found at the website US Fulbright - Swiss Scholarship.
