University of Central Lancashire

The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) tries to  offer something for everyone, with a wide range of English language programmes, international foundation programmes, foundation entry degrees, undergraduate degrees and top-up programmes - with more than 230 undergraduate courses to choose from. UCLan is a friendly, campus-based university.  International students are welcomed with a free airport collection service and orientation programme, as well as a buddy system to help students settle in.  All students are fully supported throughout their study. All undergraduate courses have a strong focus on students’ future employability taught across a wide subject area including architecture, business and management, creative industries, dentistry, law, medicine, and the sciences.  More information on courses can be found on the university website. More than £100 million has recently been invested in teaching, learning and leisure facilities, including new buildings, improved learning technology and the very best sporting facilities with plans already underway to build a new state-of-the-art £30m Engineering Innovation Centre that will open in 2018.

UCLan was a founder member of the British Conference of Undergraduate Research and in 2011 hosted the first ever British undergraduate research conference.

Postgraduate programmes at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) are underpinned by world-leading research and innovation. They are designed to enhance and develop students’ knowledge and skills to an advanced level. 

The University’s close links with global businesses ensure that its almost 200 taught postgraduate programmes meet the latest industry and sector needs - many of the University’s courses are accredited by professional bodies.  Opportunities are available in all Schools to undertake supervised research at doctoral and masters level. 

With 11 areas of research judged ‘world-leading’ by the UK Government, and a further seven areas graded as ‘internationally excellent’, UCLan has received global recognition for its work.  The University consistently invests in its research centres which include the UK's first International Centre for Sign Language and Deaf Studies, a nanotechnology research base in China and the International Institute of Korean Studies under the Directorship of world-leading researcher Professor Hazel Smith.  UCLan’s student support service ensures that students’ get the most from their time at the University and can provide support to those students who are bringing their families to the UK.
