About University of Glasgow

A university for the world, the University of Glasgow is a world top 100 institution with one of the widest ranges of courses in the UK across our four Colleges: College of Arts and Humanities, College of Science and Engineering, College of Social Sciences, and the College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences. We offer over 700 flexible degree combinations, along with extensive worldwide study abroad opportunities and a large variety of internships, placements and part-time jobs both on and off-campus to help support your time at the university and to set you up for your future career.

Established in 1451, The University has been changing the world for over 570 years and is recognised internationally for its ground-breaking work. We are a member of the prestigious Russell Group, a group of leading UK research-intensive universities, and a founder member of Universitas 21, an international group dedicated to setting worldwide standards for higher education.

Changing the world is not only about making discoveries and creating new technologies. Informed leaders, creative thinkers and bold business minds have honed their skills at Glasgow. Adam Smith laid the foundations of modern economics. James Watt gave power to the industrial revolution. Jocelyn Bell Burnell discovered radio pulsars. The talents of some of the UK’s most influential political figures have been nurtured here, award-winning writers have developed their crafts, and human rights activists have gained their voice at the University of Glasgow.

We have an international community of more than 43,000 students, from 160+ countries. We create an inclusive environment where students develop meaningful relationships with one another and with staff and, through those encounters, create new knowledge, challenge received wisdom, build inter-cultural and leadership capabilities, and develop disciplinary excellence and an appetite for lifelong learning and enquiry.

The University’s main campus is nestled within Glasgow’s friendly and cultural West End, home to cafés, bars, restaurants, vintage boutiques and cultural attractions. As well as being the UK's first UNESCO City of Music and the European Capital of Sport in 2023 (the first city to take the title twice), Glasgow provides something for everyone with a diverse selection of architecture, culture, shopping and nightlife to enjoy. Glasgow is the UK’s third largest city and one of the world’s top student cities – as voted in several rankings.
