Established in 2002, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) is a leading university in Malaysia with two campuses in the Kampar district of Perak (around 190km from Kuala Lumpur) and in Kajang, Selangor (around 20km from Kuala Lumpur).


Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) offers over 78 undergraduate degree programs, 2 postgraduate diploma programs, 33 master’s degree programs,  12 Doctorate programs, and 4 Foundation programs in disciplines such as business, engineering, mathematics, creative industries and design, social sciences, education, medicine and Chinese studies. All degree programs are taught in English with the exception of the Chinese Studies programs. Students also have the opportunity to learn a foreign language as an elective course in their undergraduate degree.

Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman goes beyond imparting technical knowledge. It encourages students to enhance their soft skill competencies through various extracurricular activities such as soft skills development, student entrepreneurship, community projects, sports, and many other character-building events.

Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman offers over 78 undergraduate degree programs in subjects such as business, Chinese studies, arts, social sciences and education, creative industries and design, science, technology, engineering and mathematics, Chinese medicine and health sciences, as well as medicine.
Ambitious students can participate in the Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman Undergraduate Research Scheme (URS) where they will be trained to conduct scientific research and work with researchers on real-life projects. UTAR has introduced the UTAR Soft Skills Development Certificate which is designed to cultivate essential soft skills as required in the era of Industrial Revolution 4.0, including moral and professional ethics, as well as critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, teamwork and digital literacy skills.  

Tuition fees
The average tuition fees for an undergraduate degree range between $US14,000 and US$30,000 depending on the program you’re interested in studying.

Entry requirements and how to apply
If you are interested in applying to study for an undergraduate degree at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), you will need to have achieved the following, depending on which course you are wishing to apply for.

Foundation: O-Level with 5 credits in the relevant subjects or its equivalent qualification

Undergraduate degree: A-Level with 2-3 passes in the relevant subjects, or high school leaving examination equivalent with 5 passes

The average tuition fees for a postgraduate degree range between $US4,500 and US$9,750 , depending on the program you’re interested in studying.
Students can apply for project research assistantship subject to availability for research postgraduate degree programs.

FAQs

In order to  register  as a UTAR student, you need to accept the offer of admission by paying the fees in full amount as stipulated on the student bill  on or before the due date . Once your fee payment  has been successfully received  by the University , the  Department of International Student Services (DISS)  will apply  for student visa through the  Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS)   in Malaysia.  
Generally, it should take 3 weeks after receiving a complete application and payment. The eVAL application is subject to the Immigration Department's approval.

International students who are fully vaccinated in following categories are allowed entry into Malaysia:

a) All existing and new international students except those who come from countries listed in the banned list (please refer: https://covid-19.moh.gov.my/semasa-kkm/); and

Medical Screening Requirements 

All international applicants must submit a complete set of the Health Declaration Form to apply for a student visa in Malaysia. 

All international students are required to attend a medical screening at the registered Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) Panel Clinics in Malaysia within 7 working days of their arrival date. 

b) International students participating in Mobility and Edutourism programmes.


We advise that you carefully consider your choice of programme before submitting your application for admission to UTAR. You should avoid changing your programme after accepting an offer and paying for the 1st Student Bill, as this will affect your student electronic visa approval letter (eVAL) application. Should you decide to change your programme, you are required to reapply for the new eVAL, pay all the relevant EMGS and immigration charges again, and contact UTAR Department of International Student Services (DISS) at [email protected]
