Undergraduate study

For undergraduate study at UNSW, there is more than one way to meet the academic entry requirements. These include high school studies, foundation studies, recognised prior study and a university transfer. Postgraduate study

English language requirements

If a student’s qualifications were not undertaken and assessed in English, the student must provide evidence of English language ability which meets the minimum requirements for admission. The degree pages of UNSW’s degree finder include details for a program’s English language requirements.

Other qualifications

In addition to university English preparation courses and English tests, UNSW also accepts several academic qualifications for its English language requirements. All qualifications should have been taken by students no more than two years from their year of commencement of study (excluding students from Sweden, Denmark or Norway, who can produce results four years prior to commencement year of study at UNSW Sydney).

UNSW Sydney’s campus has everything students need, from cafes and restaurants, to ATMs, a supermarket, sporting facilities and medical services. There are outdoor study areas and indoor computer labs, as well as free Wi-Fi.

Campus facilities

UNSW Sydney’s largest campus is based in the inner-city Sydney suburb of Kensington, just a 20-minute drive from Bondi Beach. The campus offers many cafes and restaurants, ATMs, a supermarket and pharmacy, medical services, a post office, libraries, sports fields, a fitness and aquatic centre and award-winning student accommodation.

Study areas

Students can choose to work in one of UNSW’s many indoor computer labs or outdoor study areas. Power outlets are available indoors and outdoors and students have access to free Wi-Fi across the campus, so they can connect to family and friends day and night.
UNSW Sydney offers a balanced and rewarding student experience both inside and outside the classroom and its three campuses support vibrant learning and social activities.

Paddington campus

The Paddington campus is home to UNSW’s School of Art & Design. It’s an exciting and stimulating precinct in a hip inner-city location. Designed around a central courtyard, the campus houses museum-standard galleries, state-of-the-art workshops, open studios, private workspaces, research and digital labs, student lounges and spaces for collaboration.

Canberra campus

UNSW Canberra is home to the Australian Defence Force Academy, where international students can undertake postgraduate studies. The campus includes a large library, computing facilities and labs, sports facilities and recreations spaces, a bookshop, cafe, hairdresser, dry-cleaner and florist.

Work integrated learning UNSW embeds work integrated learning into its programs, enabling students to work directly with industry and gain real-world experience. Work integrated learning is offered with partner organisations in Australia and around the world.

Post-study working in Australia On graduating, students are eligible to apply for the Post-Study Work steam of the Temporary Graduate Visa, which allows them to live and work in Australia for two to four years. From 1 July 2023, international higher education graduates with eligible qualifications will be granted an extra two years of Post-Study Work rights. UNSW is proud to provide the largest number of courses eligible for extended rights.
