Bachelor of Music

Program Description

The Bachelor of Music programme encompasses various courses, with an emphasis on Musical Performance, Music Technology and Music Education, aimed at producing skilled and knowledgeable music professionals. In addition, students also have the opportunity to be a member of an orchestra, Chamber Music Group, and choir. The Department provides a multimedia lab, music technology lab, recording studio, music education lab, Gamelan lab, piano lab, bass lab, percussion lab and orchestra practice halls, as well as instrumental practice rooms to facilitate the learning of music, in line with current learning needs. This programme has the potential to produce world-class musicians.

Entry Requirements

Candidates must fulfil the university requirements in addition to specific Faculty requirements, as follows: General University requirements 1. Passed the SPM examination or its equivalent with good grades. 2. Obtained a Credit in Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia at SPM/its equivalent. 3. Fulfil one of the following requirements: i. Obtained a Diploma or other qualifications deemed equivalent by the Malaysian Government and approved by the University Senate. ii. Passed the STPM examination with at least a grade C (GP 2.00) in General Paper, and grade C (GP 2.0) in two (2) other subjects. iii. Passed the KPM Matriculation/UM Science Base/KPTM Law Base at least PNGK 2.00. 1. Obtained at least a Band 1 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET). Specific programme requirements for Bachelor of Music : 1. Fulfill one of the following requirements: i. At least a grade C (GP 2.0) at STPM level in any two subjects. ii. A diploma or any equivalent qualification from UPM or another institution accredited by the University Senate iii. A diploma from another institution accredited by the University Senate 2. Pass an audition.
