Program Description

What kinds of schools should we have; what should be taught in them; what motivates pupils and students to learn; is there too much assessment in the education system; what IS the purpose of education?
The Education Studies Tripos is unusual in that it allows you to combine the academic study of education with another subject. It is therefore, in effect, a combined honours degree: you take specialised papers offered by the Faculty of Education, including the study of the main disciplines of education (history, philosophy, psychology and sociology), while also taking papers from other faculties for your accompanying subject; the degree is, therefore, both varied and stimulating.
