Program Description

The core of the Cambridge Music Tripos comprises studies in history, analysis and compositional techniques. The aim of the course is to deepen your understanding of music in its historical and cultural context, while ensuring that you acquire good skills in writing and analysing music.
During your three years you will have an increasing amount of choice in the subjects you study, as well as the opportunity to explore aspects of music that will probably be unfamiliar to you, such as performance practice, early music, film music, jazz, the psychology of music and ethnomusicology.
