The last Research Assessment Exercise placed us first in Scotland for research and 72% of our staff work in 5 or 5* research departments. None of our departments scored below grade 4 which means that every department is of international standing.

Basic TOEFL/IELTS requirements

TOEFL: Paper based: 580-600.
Computer based: 237-250, (depending on course applied for).
Internet-based 90-100.

IELTS: 6.0 - 6.5 or above, depending on programme applied for.
Minimum of 6.0 in Writing component required for most programmes.
Entry to most Postgraduate programmes requires a minimum of IELTS 7.0.

Accommodation

All new students are guaranteed a place in one of our buildings, provided the accommodation application form is received by us before May 31st in the year of entry. Places are allocated during the summer months. Residences are mixed and we are able to accommodate around 50% of all our students. Private accommodation is also available in St Andrews.

Accommodation Range

Accommodation prices range from about £2000 per year to about £5400 per year.

Finance and Scholarships

We offer a limited number of scholarships to students studying at Masters level and these tend to be awarded on a competitive basis. PhD students are also eligible for funding and last year alone there were 46 scholarships across the faculties of Arts and Divinity. Entry Requirements

All applications are considered on an individual basis but we generally look for a very strong set of results from High School (or equivalent) and evidence of good English-language skills.

Language Support

We have a dedicated English Language Teaching Centre and full support is offered to all students.
