RMIT University began as the Working Men's College in La Trobe Street, Melbourne in 1887. The University is one of Australia’s leading educational institutions, with a commitment to applied education, training and research. From an encouraging intake of 600 students, RMIT University has grown to a global university of more than 63,000 students, including 21,000 international students drawn from more than 100 countries – an institution recognised internationally for the quality of its graduates and the excellence of its research.

RMIT is an innovative, global university, with its heart in the city of Melbourne. Melbourne campuses are located in the city, Brunswick and Bundoora. Regional sites include Hamilton, Sale and Bairnsdale. In Vietnam, RMIT has campuses in Saigon South and Hanoi.

More than 950 higher education and vocational education programs are offered across a broad range of fields.
