Accounting and Business Information Systems Honours Scholarship . 2 available @ USD 6,932

Eligibility: Student must be entering the Bachelor of Commerce Honours Program and be specializing in Accounting and Information Systems. Students may be enrolled in the Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) or Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) with a combined degree.

There are up to eight scholarships per year available to international students from the following countries/regions:
Latin America, India and the sub-continent, Europe, Thailand, and Korea.
Should there be no suitable candidates from these regions then candidates from other regions of the world will be considered.
In 2007 the scholarships are valued at $6200 per year ($3100 per semester) for the duration of the course.

To enable Australian citizens from all walks of life to travel overseas to undertake an analysis, study or investigation of a project or an issue that cannot be readily undertaken in Australia.

Eligibility: Students entering the Final Year Bachelor of Commerce degree or of a combined degree course with a Commerce component, including Honours students.
Selection Criteria: Based primarily on academic merit, but also taking into account qualities indicating that the student may make an important contribution to the commercial and financial spheres.

To be considered for an IDP Student Mobility Scholarship applicants must:

be an international student, that is: a citizen of a country other than Australia or New Zealand. Australian citizens, permanent residents and New Zealand citizens are not eligible to apply
be offered an exchange or study abroad course place by the University of Melbourne
be a high academic achiever
not receive any other scholarship other than for tuition fee waiver. If you have already received other funding, and you are selected by IDP, you must reject your other funding in order to accept this scholarship
submit a report at the end of your overseas study.

Melbourne Access Scholarships. 150 available @ USD 4,159

The scheme provides prospective students with the opportunity to explain the ongoing circumstances that affected their chance of gaining a place at the University. To support access for talented students from educationally disadvantaged backgrounds, at least 20 per cent of Commonwealth supported places in all new Melbourne Model undergraduate courses are reserved for eligible Access Melbourne applicants.

To be considered for a scholarship you must belong to one or more of the following Access Melbourne categories:

Recognition as an Indigenous Australian
Difficult family circumstances
Hardship caused by socio-economic circumstances
Disability or long-term medical condition
Non-English speaking background
From an under-represented school
Completed school in a rural or isolated area

Known as 'The Mildura Alumni Scholarships', the scholarships support students from the Mildura region to attend the University.
To be eligible, students must:

be admitted to The University of Melbourne through Access Melbourne
have attended school and resided within a 250 km radius of the Mildura G.P.O for not less than 12 months preceding the date of their initial application for a scholarship;
require assistance with the expense of moving to Melbourne, living expenses during their course, or tuition fees.

Rae & Edith Bennett Travelling Scholarship. 2 available @ USD 41,592

enables students and graduates of the University of Melbourne to undertake postgraduate study or research in the United Kingdom. Applicants should intend to commence their postgraduate study in the UK within 16 months of the application closing date.
The scholarship is open to students and graduates of the University of Melbourne who can demonstrate outstanding academic merit and promise.

Applicants must intend to commence postgraduate study or research in the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland).

The study/research should be for a substantial period - at least 12 months.

Evidence of acceptance into a postgraduate course, a formal research arrangement, or written communication with the course co-ordinator or supervisor must accompany the scholarship application.

Applicants cannot apply for the Rae & Edith Bennett Travelling Scholarship for study/research which has already commenced or been completed.

Applicants who already hold a qualification at the same or higher level as the course for which a scholarship is sought are ineligible.

The postgraduate study or research can form part of a University of Melbourne graduate course or result in a degree from the United Kingdom. Applicants who wish to credit their studies/research in the UK toward a University of Melbourne course must obtain approval from their faculty.

Previous recipients (ie. payments of entitlements have been received) cannot reapply for this scholarship.

Applicants will be expected to complete their University of Melbourne qualifications before commencing an overseas qualification. The only exception applies to those applicants for whom their overseas studies will form part of their University of Melbourne qualification.

The Dean of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences Undergraduate Nursing Prizes . 2 available @ USD 346

Eligibility: Completion of the requirements for the Bachelor of Nursing Science Degree.
Selection Criteria: The prizes will be awarded annually to the students who have achieved the highest grade point average in the final year of either the Bachelor of Nursing Science pass degree or the Bachelor of Nursing Science honours degree at the Parkville and Shepparton campuses.
