Established in 2002, this program awards two $5,000 scholarships to students who demonstrate a strong desire to pursue a career as a Spanish-language broadcast journalist. This program is made possible through a donation from Univisión network news anchor, syndicated columnist and NAHJ founding member MarÃa Elena Salinas. Her generosity has been matched by the Univisión network, which has also contributed to this award. This scholarship is awarded to college undergraduate and graduate students. Recipients of the MarÃa Elena Salinas Scholarship will also have an opportunity to intern with either the news division of the Univisión network or with an Univisión affiliate.
