Chalmers University of Technology is home to two campuses, 17 departments, 2,500 employees, 200 research groups and 11,000 students. With a large number of these students drawn from countries around the world, Chalmers is reputed for training almost half of Sweden’s graduate engineers and architects.
Situated in Sweden, Gothenburg, the university focuses on research and education in technology, architecture and natural science. Chalmers has been ranked in the top 75 universities for engineering and technology in the world according to the 2010 Academic Ranking of World Universities.
Founded in 1829, the university was inaugurated due to a large donation by William Chalmers. The university remained a private body till 1937 when it became a state-owned institute. Years later, in 1994, Chalmers returned to being a private institution.
