Karolinska Institutet is one of the world´s leading medical universities and home of the Nobel Assembly. The president, Harriet Wallberg-Henriksson, is one of 50 professors that each year select the Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine. The university holds this honourable task since 1901.

Karolinska Institutet was founded by King Karl XIII in 1810 as an academy for the training of skilled army surgeons. Today, Karolinska Institutet is a modern medical university and one of the foremost in the world. Consistently ranked in the top 50 universities globally, and the top 5 medical universities in Europe. Karolinska Institutet accounts for over 40 per cent of the medical academic research conducted in Sweden and offer the country´s broadest range of education in medicine and health sciences.

Karolinska Institutet offers seven Global Master’s programmes and a number of single subject courses that are taught entirely in English.
