The Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso’s history begins in 1924 with the creation of the Isabel Caces de Brown Foundation, which years later would give birth to the first university in the region of Valparaíso, and the fourth one in Chile.In 1928 the university opened its doors to the community, beginning with an enrollment of 250 students. Today it has an enrollment of more than 14.000 undergraduate and graduate students, receiving every year more than 850 international students.Since its foundation, PUCV has expanded and developed its academic scope to become one of the most important universities in the country. PUCV has 9 faculties and more than 100 Undergraduate, Graduate and Specialization Programs. It has also an accreditation of 6 years in every area, standard of excellence that only 6 universities have in Chile, being the Chilean university with the highest number of certified undergraduate programs in the country. Today PUCV has exchange students, scientific and graduate cooperation agreements with more than 200 Higher Education Institutions in 35 countries. The university belongs to international Mobility networks such as ISA, ISEP and CINDA, connecting our students to more than 200 leading universities worldwide.PUCV has given high standard education to students who have become great professionals and citizens. With highly qualified faculty members, with Master and Doctoral degree from the most prestigious universities in the country and abroad, PUCV delivers to its students a comprehensive high quality education which promotes their abilities and interests for them to be the best both as individuals and professionals.EspañolLa historia de la PUCV comienza en 1924 con la creación de la Fundación Isabel Caces de Brown, que años más tarde daría vida a la primera universidad de la región de Valparaíso, y la cuarta en el país.En el año 1928 la Universidad Católica de Valparaíso abre sus puertas a la comunidad, iniciando sus actividades con una matrícula de 250 alumnos. Hoy cuenta con una matrícula superior a los 14.000 estudiantes de pre y postgrado, recibiendo cada año más de 850 alumnos internacionales.Desde sus inicios, la PUCV ha desarrollado actividades académicas de investigación y extensión, consolidándose como una de las instituciones de mayor relevancia del país.La PUCV cuenta con 9 Facultades y más de cien programas de pregrado, postgrado y postítulo. Además, tiene una acreditación de 6 años en todas las áreas, categoría de excelencia que sólo otras 6 universidades poseen en Chile, siendo además la universidad chilena con el mayor número de programas de pregrado acreditados. Actualmente cuenta con relaciones de cooperación con más de 200 universidades a lo largo de 35 países, en áreas de intercambio, investigación y postgrado. Además pertenece a redes internacionales de movilidad como ISA, ISEP y CINDA, conectando a nuestros alumnos a más de 200 universidades líderes a nivel mundial.En la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso se han formado grandes profesionales y ciudadanos.
