Overview
The Pontificia Universidad Javeriana is a private university founded in 1623. It is one of the oldest and most traditional Colombian universities, directed by the Society of Jesus, with its main facilities in Bogotá and a sectional division in Cali. It is one of the 31 universities entrusted to the Society of Jesus in Latin America, and one of the 114 in the entire world. The University was the first higher education institution in Colombia to be awarded with institutional accreditation through Resolution No. 1320 issued on June 12th 2003, by the Colombian Ministry of Education. The Javeriana University in Bogotá has 18 colleges comprised of 62 departments and 191 academic programs promulgating different areas of knowledge, giving the university its multidisciplinary nature. It offers 38 undergraduate programs, 73 specialized professional study programs, 39 medical and surgical specializations, 33 masters, and 8 PhD’s. The University in Bogotá has 18,962 undergraduate students and 4,307 graduate students. The faculty is comprised of 1,364 professors and 2,702 chair professors. It also has 1,506 administrative employees. Its campus has 45 buildings on 44.5 acres, and is located in a strategically, easily accessible part of the city. Based on its prestige and the quality of its academic offering, the University selects, from among its applicants, those students with the highest academic credentials. Its graduates are known for their professional quality, their skills in teamwork, and their value-centered human leadership. Español La Pontificia Universidad Javeriana es una institución privada de educación superior, fundada en 1.623. Es una de las universidades más antiguas y de mayor tradición en Colombia con su sede principal en Bogotá y una seccional en Cali, y fue la primera institución de educación superior en el país que recibió la acreditación institucional de alta calidad mediante la Resolución 1320 de junio 12 de 2003 del Ministerio de Educación Nacional. La Javeriana hace parte de las 31 universidades confiadas a la Compañía de Jesús en América Latina y de las 114 que existen en el mundo. La Javeriana en Bogotá está constituida por 18 facultades, que agrupan 62 departamentos y 191 programas académicos. Éstas atienden diversas áreas del conocimiento, lo que le otorga a la institución una naturaleza multidisciplinaria. La Universidad ofrece 38 programas de pregrado, 73 especializaciones profesionales, 39 especializaciones médicas y quirúrgicas, 33 maestrías y 8 doctorados. La Universidad en Bogotá tiene 18.962 estudiantes de pregrado y 4.307 de posgrado. El cuerpo profesoral está constituido por 1.364 profesores de planta y 2.702 profesores de cátedra, y cuenta con 1.506 empleados administrativos. Su campus tiene 45 edificaciones en 18 hectáreas de terreno y está ubicado en un sitio estratégico de la ciudad con facilidades de acceso.
