Universidad ORT Uruguay is a private, non-confessional University, originating from the Jewish community. It is currently the largest private university in Uruguay. It operates at two urban campuses in Montevideo, located in Pocitos and in the downtown area, both about 30 minutes from the international airport. From both locations, there is easy access to a wide range of academic, cultural and commercial services.
More than 20 undergraduate and graduate degrees in Architecture, Engineering, Business, Economics, International Studies, Design, Communications and Education are taught. Research is carried out with local enterprises and research centers. International agreements facilitates the exchange of teachers and students and allows for joint projects. There is a specialized office to support exchange and international students.
The university has earned a reputation of innovation because of its pioneer programs in IT, International Studies, Management, Design, Communications and Biotechnology. It was the first university in Uruguay to engage in distance education and business incubation, founding the Ingenio business incubator in partnership with LATU (national technology laboratory). It is known for its philosophy of teaching in small groups, a good infrastructure and a strong emphasis on quality.
