About Universidad Santo Tomás - Chile
Universidad Santo Tomás (UST) is a renowned university within the Chilean education system, offering a wide range of academic programs in 13 different cities around the country. Current undergraduate enrollment amounts to 26,033 students attending one of the 25 programs the University offers at its eight schools across the country, supported by 4,077 faculty members. In terms of graduate programs, UST offers a PhD in Biodiversity Conservation and Management —accredited for two years in 2021— as well as 11 master's degree programs, for a total of 2,362 graduate students.
UST holds Advanced Level accreditation in the areas of Institutional Management and Undergraduate Teaching issued by Chile's National Accreditation Commission (CNA-Chile) for a four-year period, attesting to the outstanding education provided to its students.
Moreover, the University has placed particular emphasis on fostering applied research in priority fields of study, something that has been further reinforced by the efforts of its nine Centers for Applied Research and Innovation. In 2021, the institution was engaged in 74 externally funded projects and had 348 scientific articles published in indexed journals.
In terms of internationalization, Universidad Santo Tomás currently has 132 cooperation and student exchange agreements in place with prestigious universities around the world and is one of the founding institutions of the International Council of Universities in the Spirit of St. Thomas Aquinas, ICUSTA. Likewise, its close ties with China gave way to the first Confucius Institute in Chile, which opened its doors in 2007 and has consistently received awards such as the "Best Confucius Institute" and "Model Confucius Institute".
