Universidade Federal de Goiás (UFG) is a publicly funded university located in the Brazilian state of Goiás, headed in Goiânia and with campuses in the municipalities of Aparecida de Goiânia, Catalão, City of Goiás and Jataí.
Founded on December 14, 1960, after the merger of previously existing colleges, UFG is the only federally funded institution of higher education in the state, the richest and most populous in the Central-West Region of Brazil. The activities of the university involves 32,000 students in 156 undergraduate courses (presential and online courses) and 120 postgraduate courses ( 75 masters + 45 doctorates).
The UFG`s vision is to be a place where respect for sociocultural diversity and freedom of expression are core values, protected by the University Statute, which ensures respect for all and pluralism of ideas, without discrimination of any kind.
To support the activities related to teaching and learning in our university, UFG counts on, among others:
* CIAR (Centro Integrado de Aprendizagem em Rede), which deals with online extension, undergraduate and postgraduate courses;
* A Language Center: where English, German, Italian, Chinese, Spanish, French, and Portuguese courses are taught;
*An Antropological Museum: created in 1969, it is a non-profit institution, open to the public, and is intended for collection, inventory, documentantion, preservation, security, exhibition and communication of its collection. This cultural space was proposed to safeguard the indigenous material culture of the Central-West Region of Brazil;
*A Cinema which seats 150 people and aims at showing national and international films to the community, as well as promoting debates about them;
* An Arts Gallery created on May 21, 2002;
*A Convention Center which seats more than 4,000 people;
* A Cultural center were musical and theater presentations are performed;
*UFG Radio and TV, which share news and programmes with the local and regional communities, besides being a place to train students and professionals in the areas of communication and education;
* A plurality of laboratories in several areas.
