The University of Gothenburg has approximatly 17.000 full-time students and 5,000 employees. It is one of the largest universities in Scandinavia. With its eight faculties and approximately sixty departments, the University of Gothenburg is also the most wide-ranging and versatile university in Sweden, offering unique opportunities for cooperation and development.

The distinctive characteristic of university education at the University of Gothenburg is the close interaction between teaching and research. Entry Requirements

You comply with the general entrance requirements when you have graduated from an upper secondary school. You thereby fullfil the requirements for higher education in your home country. You must also have a mastery of English. A mastery of Swedish is not necessary for courses given in English.

Proof of knowledge in English
To proof that your knowledge of English meets the general entrance requirement can be provided by one of the following international tests:

International English Language Testing Service, IELTS, minimum score 5.0, no score under 4.5 in any section of the test.

Test of English as a Foreign Language, TOEFL, minimum score 500 p with at least 4 in the Written test part (computerized test 173 p, internet test 61 p)

First Certificate in English, University of Cambridge/Oxford, with grade A or B.

Lower Certificate in English, University of Cambridge/Oxford.

Certificate in Advanced English, University of Cambridge/Oxford.

Certificate of Proficiency, University of Cambridge/Oxford.

NOTE! Some programmes and courses require a higher test score than those mentioned above.

Proof of sufficient knowledge of English can sometimes be part of your upper secondary education. In this case an individual assessment will be made, since it depends on the length and level of studies in the English language in lower and upper secondary school in your home country. The level of your English must be equivalent to one of the tests above, that is, to English courses at lower and upper secondary school in Sweden.
