A university is an extraordinarily complex organisation, given the diversity of the studies offered, its research networks and different bodies, and its links with society. If, in addition, a university has a long and rich history –as is the case with University of Valencia– then complexity is further increased, since it has to rely on suitable means to preserve and disseminate its heritage. In such cases, a university guide becomes an essential instrument to effectively finding information on the resources made available by the institution.

This guide seeks to provide information on University of Valencia in an accurate and exhaustive way.

Students will find in it the widest study offer for both official and UV–specific degrees in the Valencian Community, delivered in three campuses and six scientific areas. University of Valencia offers more than 60 official degrees, 100 PhD courses –of which 20 are quality certified–, over 250 postgraduate courses, and La Nau Gran, targeted at older students looking for a second chance. Humanities and engineering, social sciences and health sciences, and legal and teaching sciences make up an educational supply characterised by scientific and technical knowledge and fostering specialised higher education and citizenship culture.

The University is also made up of numerous research teams that generate both basic and applied knowledge which is then transferred onto society by the institutes, laboratories, and departments.

University of Valencia is also synonymous with culture and cultural heritage. For that reason and beyond study and research, it has facilities and resources that favour the development of university life: halls of residence, sport facilities, libraries, associative and volunteer networks, and exceptional places like the Botanic Garden and the historic building at Carrer de la Nau.

Faculty

Number of Faculty Staff Headcount: 2,108

Total number of academic faculty staff who are responsible for planning, directing and undertaking teaching only, research only or both teaching and research. Please include: vice-chancellors, deputy vice-chancellors, principals, professors, heads of school, associate professors, principal lecturers, tutors or postdoctoral researchers. A research assistant, in our understanding, is any individual who is not doing own research and is therefore not likely to publish own research outputs. Said individual is (only) involved in research in terms of operation execution , such as lab technician or equipment operator.

Number of academic faculty staff who are of foreign nationality. The term 'international' is hereby determined by citizenship. For EU countries, this includes all foreign nationals, even if from another EU state. In Hong Kong, this includes professors from Mainland China. Inclusion and exclusion mirrors those for academic faculty staff. In case of dual citizenship, the 'deciding' criteria should be 'citizenship obtained through birth', basically first passport obtained.

Undergraduate Information

Number of Undergraduate Students Headcount: 45,220

Number of students pursuing a Bachelor’s level or equivalent degree. This excludes certificates/diplomas and associate’s degrees.

Number of International Undergraduate Students Headcount: 2,315

Number of undergraduate students who are foreign nationals. The term 'international' is hereby determined by citizenship. For EU countries, this includes all foreign nationals, even nationals of other EU states. In Hong Kong, this includes students from Mainland China. In case of dual citizenship, the 'deciding' criteria should be 'citizenship obtained through birth', basically first passport obtained. Please exclude all exchange students. As for language students, if the language students take up a particular language course that is outlined as 'undergraduate degree program' they should be included under 'international undergraduate students' . Language students who take part in a course not contributing to a degree qualification should be counted under 'Total International Students'.

Graduate / Postgraduate Information
