11 Reasons NOT to Study in Canada
By Sabrina Collier
Updated June 25, 2019 Updated June 25, 2019Canada is one of the most popular study destinations with our readers but, honestly, we have no idea why. Somehow, the land of maple syrup and Mounties is home to the world’s number one student city in the QS Best Student Cities 2017, Montréal, as well as some other terrible cities which bafflingly featured in our top 100. Here at TopUniversities.com, we’re struggling to see the appeal. So here are some reasons why you really shouldn’t study in Canada…
1. The scenery is really ugly and unimpressive
2. Its cities are even uglier…just look at Toronto!
3. The food is tasteless and bland
4. It’s freezing cold and gray all the time, especially in Vancouver
5. There’s nothing interesting to see in Quebec City
6. Don’t waste your time in Montréal either
We have no idea how it knocked Paris off the top spot in this year’s Best Student Cities.
7. Ottawa’s parliament building is nothing special
Ottawa climbed 26 places in this year’s Best Student Cities for some reason.
8. Autumn in Canada is really unattractive
9. Winter is even worse
10. There’s nothing for international students to do while they're here. No culture at all
11. Watching any Canadian sport is really tedious
12. So, whatever you do, definitely don’t study in Canada. It's a dreary and forgettable study destination
