If you’ve run out of stuff to watch on Netflix and refuse to sink into a rabbit hole of crappy 80s rom-coms and bad Jennifer Lopez movies, we have some good news for you. Hours of excellent film and television are arriving on the popular streaming site this month, ensuring you never have to leave the house again. Here’s what we’ll be watching.

1. Born to be Free

This incredible Russian investigative documentary is directed by three valiant journalists, who sought to reveal the shocking corruptions and cruelty in the global trade of wild sea mammals. Not an easy watch, but an essential one.

Available now in: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, India, Mexico, the Philippines, South Africa, Sweden, USA and more.

2. The Get Down: Part II

After months of waiting, The Get Down is back with part II. This Netflix original series, directed by Baz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge, The Great Gatsby, Romeo + Juliet) explores the rise of hip hop in 1970s South Bronx, at a time when disco still reigns supreme. A mash up of romance, poetry and gang shootings, interspersed with historical footage of New York City, this wonderful show should be on everyone’s radar.

Available April 7 in: Brazil, Canada, Germany, Italy, South Korea, UK, USA and more.

3. Luca Tanzt Leise (Luca Dances Quietly)

This German tragicomedy tells the tale of high school student Luca striving to find love while studying for her abitur as she recovers from years of depression. If you’re into mumblecore films and foreign indie, this understated gem is for you.

Available now in: Australia, Brazil, India, Japan, Mexico, South Africa, UK and more.

4. Dear White People

Dear White People is a satirical TV show about race, cultural appropriation and blackface based on a film released in 2004. Set in a fictional Ivy League college, the film follows the bi-racial arts major and head of an all-black house, Samantha White, as she sparks debate and escalates racial tensions with her smart and witty radio show Dear White People, which narrates some of the daily hardships endured by people of color in America.

Available April 28 in: Australia, India, Mexico, South Korea, UK, USA and more.

5. Louis C.K. - 2017

Louis C.K.’s latest stand-up special, filmed live in Washington D.C., continues to hit the heights of previous live shows Oh My God and Live at the Comedy Store, and will be a must-see for anyone who enjoyed his cult TV shows Louie or Horace and Pete. Depressingly funny, 2017 should have you doubled over with laughter, as CK touches on a range of hot topics, from ISIS to abortion and transgender rights. Consider yourself warned.

Available now in: Brazil, Canada, Germany, India, UK, USA and more.

6. Chewing Gum (Season two)

Good news, Chewing Gum fans: the second installment of the UK comedy series is as brilliantly funny as its BAFTA-winning first season. Set in a housing estate in East London, the hit series follows Tracey Gordon, a 24-year-old shop assistant, as she desperately, hilariously attempts to make a place for herself in the world.

Available now in: Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Italy, South Korea, USA and more.

7. Weiner

This award-winning fly on the wall documentary from 2016 follows the unfortunately named Anthony Weiner and his wife Huma Abedin during his campaign for mayor of New York City in 2013. The campaign was derailed when explicit sexts Weiner had exchanged with women resurfaced, triggering a media firestorm and shattering his political ambitions. It’s remarkable that the documentary makers were there to capture the entire story as it unfolded.

Available now in: Brazil, Canada, Germany, India, South Korea, Thailand and more.

8. Tramps

This Netflix original, directed by Adam Leon, features a heist, a stolen briefcase and an unlikely romance between two strangers Danny and Ellie (basically the makings of any decent indie rom-com). Early reviews from film festivals last year were extremely positive.

Available April 21 in: Canada, France, UK, US and more.
