Bachelor of Applied Arts (B.A.A.) in Early Childhood Development and Learning

This program is a structured plan of study designed to meet the training guidelines of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). This concentration is especially appropriate for students who plan on working in early childhood settings such as preschools, Head Start programs, and child care centers without focusing on elementary education. This major is approved by the Michigan Department of Education for employment as a lead teacher in non-public school Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) preschools. Early Childhood Development and Learning is a field of study that examines the growth and development of children birth through age eight, within the context of teaching and working with children in educational and social settings. The courses in this major meet the course work requirements for early childhood education and preschool teaching by the Michigan Department of Education and the training guidelines of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). This major is especially appropriate for students who plan on working in non-elementary school early childhood settings such as child care centers, preschools, and Head Start and Early Head Start programs.
