This program is for students wishing to develop skills necessary to become a professional performer in theatrical genres that combine acting with music and dance. The BFA in Music Theatre provides training and experience in those areas. This program is focused on undergraduate students. The key features of this programs are: comprehensive course work in music, theatre, and dance; faculty and staff members with broad performance backgrounds who are dedicated to developing their performance and production talents; outstanding music, theatre, and dance performance facilities; and technical theatre support facilities including a scene shop, costume shop, and rehearsal rooms; and scholarships specifically for music theatre students. The music theatre program combines interdisciplinary course work in music, theatre, and dance. Instruction is offered in voice, acting, dance, and in courses dedicated specifically to music theatre performance and history. This program prepares students with the training, skills, and experience them will need to start a career as a professional performer. In this program, student will gain academic and theoretical knowledge of the performing arts and receive concentrated training in their desired professional area. Students also will develop a special understanding of their relationships with other members of society through their performance experiences.
