Master in Renewable Energy

Hi! I’m seeking to continue my postgraduate studies in Renewable Energy especially in UK but I can’t find a specific ranking in this subject. My background is in economics and environmental management. I found Cranfield and Newcastle Universities’ courses interesting. As Cranfield doesn’t present in the majority of rankings I have difficulty in comparing it with other universities. Among which ones it could be placed in terms of reputation and which are the best universities in this subject generally? Please any feedback would be useful!

You could maybe try looking at rankings for a similar/related subject? For example, maybe the Earth Sciences or Environmental Sciences rankings would be a way of getting an idea? Then you could check to see which of those actually have a focus on renewable energy.

Hey, curious if you've had any luck. I'm interested in doing something similar, getting into masters studies in renewable energy without an engineering or science background. I studied Environmental Economics and Public Policy in the US and I am looking at continuing my studies in the UK. I've found that Heriot-Watt in Scotland has some good programs, including a Renewable Energy Development masters. HW is ranked reasonably highly in relevant fields.

Hi again! I concluded in Cranfield University then. it was a tough decision indeed. I want more practical knowledge and to get in job market asap so I found Cranfield is dedicated to 5 subjects only included energy and has strong relations with industry. Also it’s close to London! However, Newcastle University is large and located in a great city, but we can’t have it all.. :) You are right! HW has some interesting programmes too. Hope I made the right decision. Wish you all the best in your decision making!

Hi all,

Although we don't have a dedicated ranking for renewable energy, we do have a ranking for the world's leading universities for environmental sciences as well as for earth and marine sciences. You can also filter the location to find the best schools in a particular country or region.

From there you can then visit the website of any university you like the sound of, to see if they offer courses in renewable energy for example. And then compare the program details to see if the course is right for you personally.

The exhausting resources such as coal, gas etc are finishing day by day and take years to get replenish.
Meanwhile since the development is at pace and population at race there is a key demand and need to shift on sustainable and renewable sources of energy and make maximum utilisation of them.
Pursuing a PG in the this field from a recognised university will surely make an impact in your career. The world definitely requires new technologies and mindset towards renewable sources of energy.
There is a lot of potential in renewable resources to serve the world's energy needs. So this is definitely one of the most emerging fields in today's scenarios.
Do remember to get a PG from a recognised university only then only you can have a career boost as soon as you finish your degree.
Thanks
