In cooperation with the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), Emory University offers a joint education path, referred to as the Dual Degree Program in Engineering. The Dual Degree Program leads to a Bachelor of Arts, or a Bachelor of Science, degree awarded by Emory and a Bachelor of Science in engineering awarded by the Georgia Institute of Technology. The Dual Degree Program is sequential: Students do not study at Emory and Georgia Tech at the same time. Students may select from any of the major options available through Emory College and the Goizueta Business School .Dual Degree students will spend their first three years at Emory, and enroll in a pre-engineering curriculum while also fulfilling their general education and major requirements. When general education, major, and engineering pre-requisite coursework is successfully completed at Emory, students then apply for a referral from the Emory Dual Degree advisor to transfer to Georgia Tech. At this time, the student formally selects from eleven engineering major options to complete their second degree.Upper level engineering courses are completed at Georgia Tech during the last two years of the Program. Generally, the Dual Degree Program is a five-year commitment with some engineering majors, or special circumstances, lengthening the path by one or two semesters. The program is open to Emory University and Oxford College at Emory University students whose course grades indicate that they could satisfactorily complete the degree requirements for their chosen major at Emory and the engineering program at Georgia Tech. Students must earn a 3.0+ grade point average during their tenure at Emory to remain qualified for this program and must meet the current Georgia Tech requirements at the time of the application.
