Overview

Dental hygiene graduates are healthcare professionals pertaining to the technical diagnostic and technical care areas who perform, in full professional autonomy, the technical procedures needed to perform diagnostic techniques on biological materials or patients.

They are equipped with training in the basic disciplines in order to allow the best possible understanding of the pathological processes that take place in the developmental age, adulthood and old age, on which their diagnostic intervention focuses.

The Bachelor’s degree trains professionals specialising in the performance of oral hygiene prevention protocols, with an in-depth understanding of the various sterilisation procedures and who also take part in management and managerial tasks. They also provide health education and participate in national health service primary prevention initiatives.

Educational Project

Perform study, teaching and applied specific research and professional consultancy work in health services and other settings requiring their professional expertise;

Help to train auxiliary staff and make a direct contribution to their on-gong training;

Perform their professional duties in public or private healthcare facilities either as employees or freelancers;

Work with other professionals as part of the multidisciplinary team required by the rehabilitation programme.

Learning activities

Each bachelor’s degree consists of six types of training: core activities; proficiency activities and complementary or supplementary activities.
The following three indicate the number of ECTS-credits that can be acquired:
  • autonomously by the student;
  • in preparation for the final assessment and for knowledge of a foreign language;
  • for the acquisition of other computer and interpersonal skills, etc.
