Our Genetics programme covers every aspect of this fast-moving discipline, giving you a thorough grounding in the molecular biology of DNA, RNA and proteins, as well as the roles of genes in development, ecology and evolution. With an interesting choice of modules in the second and final years, you can mix and match to take a broad approach to your studies, or drill deep into your area of interest. In your final year, we’ll support you to carry out an original investigative or research project, working alongside established researchers. It is central to all areas of biology, from cellular development and reproduction to conservation and biodiversity. In human health, the 100,000 Genomes Project will change the way we diagnose and treat disease, with drugs personalised to an individual’s genetic makeup. Go global and study abroad as part of your degree – apply for our Genetics BSc with a Year Abroad. Queen Mary has links with universities in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia (partnerships vary for each degree programme).
