Psyschotherapeutic Counselling

The Psychotherapeutic Counselling MSc will develop a student into a reflexive counsellor who can work effectively with clients on a diverse range of issues. As anxiety, stress and various associated conditions become increasingly common in today’s hectic world, more and more people are recognising the benefits of counselling. This course applies an integrative approach and students will learn to develop a range of psychotherapeutic strategies. There are five different counselling approaches which will be taught in this course: Person-centred; Cognitive behavioural; Psychodynamic; Attachment; Systemic. Each student will need to undertake a counselling placement of at least 100 hours and at least 20 hours of approved personal therapy. There is also a compulsory residential weekend at the start of the course which offers space to focus on personal development, skills and group dynamics in a tranquil setting. There are also two compulsory Saturday day schools in both Year 1 and Year 2.
