Although 75% of institutions in this year’s ranking are based in either the UK or US, it’s Spain’s IE Business School which has been crowned the world’s best provider of online MBA teaching, displacing last year’s champion Warwick Business School. Third place went to Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business in the US.
This year’s ranking features 10 new entries, two of which jump straight into the top 10 (Thunderbird School of Global Management in sixth and Temple University’s Fox School of Business in eighth). These new arrivals point to the increased range of reputable options for students looking to study an online MBA course.
While some rise, others fall, and this year’s ranking was bad news for a few institutions which have slipped since last year. The Open University Business School, Aberdeen Business School and the University of Texas at Dallas’ Naveen Jindal School of Management have all fallen out of the top 10, the latter from seventh to 22nd.
Average tuition across the 40 programs included in this year’s ranking is $39,106, although the average for US-only courses is nearly $10,000 higher ($48,784).
The results of the QS Distance Online MBA Rankings 2017 are based on an analysis of six broad aspects of a program, including its reputation for employability, the profile of its participants and its establishment in the online education market.
